About Us
Welcome to St Michael’s which is a lively, thriving, evangelical Anglican parish on the edge of the Newton estate, about 2.5 miles from the centre of Chester.
Our aim as a church is summed up in our Mission Statement:
Growing God’s community - for others
Through Worship, Prayer, Learning, Fellowship, Serving & Mission
to God’s Glory
The church has a family atmosphere and welcomes children and young people. Most of the church family gathers each Sunday at 10am for the major worship service of the week. Music is led by a worship group and is both traditional and contemporary. Worship is informal and relaxed in style and along with our teaching programme, we seek to engage effectively in today’s world.
St Michael’s church centre in Devon Road is a modern multi-purpose building with hall and rooms attached. It is used throughout the week for a whole variety of activities. (For church centre booking enquiries contact Mary Webster via the Church Office).
The church-plant congregation of St Michael’s @ Newton School serves the west end of the parish. It meets at 10am on Sundays in Newton School, Kingsway West.
A community café, Kings Way, is open in the corner of the parade of shops at the heart of Newton. It is a collaborative venture with Kingsway Chapel. The Café opens every weekday and Saturday mornings, and at other times as needed.
