At the beginning of this year, our Vicar encouraged us as a church to fix our focus on 7 main areas of church life,

At St Michael’s we are keen to see people develop and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. We encourage people to be involved in ‘Stream Groups’ and to express their discipleship in service. We also try to enable people to understand the relevancy of the bible and the importance of prayer.in their lives. Our Sunday services and a varied program of activities seeks to encourage this.

St Michael’s has a deep commitment to working with Children and Young people. To this end we have two full time employed workers; Sas McConville is our Children and Families Worker and Rob Kophamel is our Youth and Young Adults Worker. There is an exciting and varied program that covers all ages and that aims to see our Children and Young people growing in their relationship with Jesus and sharing His message with others.

It cannot be understated the value that is placed upon older members of our congregation. As they seek to continue to serve we are keen to make sure that there are activities that are appropriate in bringing people together in friendship and fellowship. We have a good Pastoral group that meets regularly to consider and pray for the pastoral needs of the parish. In the wider community we visit a local nursing home each month and have a well supported TOGS group that meet in the cafe each week.

St Michael’s is blessed with an abundance of musical and technical ability. This is an important and crucial area of the life of the church. We enjoy, and encourage a variety of musical tastes and seek to develop in creativity and relevancy. We encourage people of all ages to express their gifts in music and technology as we seek to lead our church family to fix their eyes on the Lord and worship Him in song together.

St Michael’s is a very versatile and practical building. We are in the process of considering improvements to the building that will give us a better welcoming area and improve the use of the space.

St Michael’s has always been at the heart of the community. We seek to provide meaningful activities that proclaim God’s Kingdom. The building is used by a number of community groups. and we are in the process of developing other activities such as Food Bank, holiday clubs and other groups that help us to engage with the wider community.

We believe that praying for God’s will and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit is foundational to all that goes on at St Michael’s. We encourage people to pray individually or as part of organised groups. We believe in a God who answers prayer according to his will and purpose.
